What I have learned

I really feel that I could go back and do this all over again and then have a better understanding of what is out there. There were times that it was overwhelming with all the info available on the internet. I certainly did learn new sites to go for info and have a better understanding of how to BEGIN to help patrons that are looking for these sites. It was a good experience.

Search Tools For Locating Podcasts

I am not even sure this is the correct info, but I found Google video goes International and NBC adverts on video sharing site.

YouTube

I went into YouTube and uploded some past Bill Cosby's shows.

Spreadsheets

I went into Goggle docs and came up with some types of entities you can access using Googlelookup and some popular attribute names. For instance: Cities and Towns: state, mayor and elevation. Also, Dinosaurs: height, weight, when lived. This could be useful for quick referral.

wikis

Libraries are using wikis to help on line searching a lot easier. The 2006 ALA in New Orleans posted its Topics and Outside Activities for members attending the conference. USC Aiken Gregg- Granitevillt Lib posts its onlinecatalogejournals. Also, St. Josrph's Public Library posts a Subject Guide which includes Tips in order to navigate and a Talk To The Library in Libraryforlife.org. This allows patrons to text message librarians or post comments.

Web 2.0 and Library 2.0

My overall impression of Web and Library after getting a general overview is that both work together to allow the user to be in the center of all that is happening. I have been hearing lately that in 2009 all tv's will be digital or have an adapter to allow them to be. Already Flickr, MySpace, FaceBook, Del.icio.us, You Tube, LibraryThing are there. I read "Into a New World of Librarianship" that tells how the library will fit into this scheme.First proposed to the staff at last year's Staff Day and followed by Lew Belfont's Forum 23 things is preparing us to help those customers to navigate the "new Library.

When I went into Posts, it showed no Learning 2.0, but with Tags, there were 663 hits.. Under Blogs, there were 850 blogs. I found no Post Directory. You could also get into photos and videos.

The "AHA" Moment

Always feeling technologically challenged, I surprised even myself when someone needed info on posting some books on line and did not know how to do this. I immediately said, Wait, I can help you." Just go to
Blogspot.com and, create a blog with your groups name and list the books you want others to read. WOW!! Do I feel smart!! Jaye loved this because this kind of sharing is exactly what 23 things is all about.

I liked this site because one of the first sites was decluttering your house. I definitely need this, and so I tagged it and plan to go home now and start. Ha!

I just realized that I started a sentence and never finished what I had to say. So after reading the book, has all the computer technology helped or caused more problems in society?

After reading the book Boys Adrift by Leonard Sax and how he feels that computers have caused problems for many boys from a young age up to their twenties. I don't want this to be a negative comment, but it is the most recent info I have read.
